"Santa Wrote Me a Letter," the brand new release from rising country artist Tori Martin is a '60s vibe Christmas song drawing inspiration from classic Christmas hits in a contemporary setting. The feel-good 12/8 time signature track is sprinkled with a nod to rhythm and blues nostalgia, sounding like it could have easily come from the Grease soundtrack. Listen here.
Martin superbly and effortlessly delivers rhythmic phrasing that weaves through a tight horn arrangement propelled by a steady pulsing retro piano. The witty lyrics tell the story of Santa dropping the ball at Christmastime by not making good on the singer's wish for a significant other, “take back the sweater, you left in place of a guy, return to sender, to the big north pole in the sky.” The lyrics are accentuated by '60s style girl group background vocals that will entice you to sing along.
The song was produced by Bill Warner, LuckySky Music President, and WarnerWorks CEO, and was co-written by Martin along with two of her favorite collaborators, established Nashville tunesmiths Kirsti Manna and Bill DiLuigi, who also penned songs on her latest album, Lucky.
"Santa Wrote Me a Letter" is a fun listen and provides new Christmas music that fits perfectly alongside the traditional Christmas classics. The song is a great holiday treat for Tori Martin fans and for anyone who is ready to get in the holiday spirit.
