Thank you for chatting with us! How was the last year for you? What were your highlights? We are only halfway through 2022 and if it were to end right now, I’d die a happy lady! My highlights were playing the Sunday Night Showcase at the Bluebird Cafe, playing my first home show in NYC at The Cutting Room, playing the Listening Room for the first time and doing an artist showcase with my friends at Nashville Tour Stop earlier in the year. But, this year isn’t over yet….there’s more to come, just saying!
At the end of the day, what do you hope is the message of your music? What do you hope people take away from your songs? The message I want to resonate from my music is truth and honesty. I am all about telling the truth and my story of the experiences I had and if it can make an impact on someone to tell their stories and make a connection with my music- then I have done my job as an artist and songwriter to understand the deeper meaning to my songs.
What’s your advice for young artists trying to establish a name for themselves? Especially young females that may see you as a role model. The best advice I can give to any young artists trying to make it is to be yourself, showcase who you are as a writer/artist/performer and perform and network as much as you can. You never know who you are performing for and who you will meet that will change your life for the better.
Did you always want to be a musician or was there a specific moment that something happened that made you think "this is what I want to do with my life." If so, what was it?I always knew I wanted to be a musician and was always performing my whole life- but I had people steer me away from it early in my college career and went into the field of music education. My “ah-ha, this is what I want to do with my life” moment came when I saw Hunter Hayes perform for the first time. He is one of my favorite artists and is one of the artists I look up to the most. His songwriting, the music he creates, the way he performs- I just saw that and turned to my mom and said “this is what I should be doing”- and I have been striving for it ever since. I think we can say I got lost along the way getting to where I am at now and I wouldn’t be who I am without that part of my journey!
Aside from singing do you play any instruments?I actually do!!! I play Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, all Saxophones (Alto, Tenor, Bari and Soprano), Flute, Oboe, a bit of piano, dabble on Trumpet and so much more. My day job requires me to know all of these instruments, so I am definitely practicing (and wanting to learn more!)
What is your favorite wine? Pinot Grigio hands down- the Costco brand! It’s *Chief’s Kiss*! Home cooking or going out for dinner? Definitely home cooking! Something about that is AMAZING! Where is your favorite place to eat in your hometown? Immediately when I get off the plane, I am heading to get a slice of pizza at my favorite place Little Vincent’s! That’s like a mandatory thing to do! If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?Chicken Nuggets- hands down! Ask anyone, Chicken Nuggets are my go-to!
Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? This is an amazing question- oh my goodness!!! I would love ANY sponsorship, but one sponsorship I would want is Starbucks! I am a Starbucks junkie and literally get it all the time. Starbucks….Call me!!
