"Thirsty Thursday" Featuring Dani Taylor

Thank you for talking with us Dani! Where did you grow up and how has that influenced your style of music? I grew up in Arizona. Generally, the scene in Arizona is either EDM/pop or country. I went to high school in Michigan and the music scene is mainly EDM/pop, rap, or country. I grew up listening to everything from Bob Marley to Donna Summers to the Goo Goo Dolls to Taylor Swift. My parents played everything. I was exposed to so many genres and am happy that I was. Every genre has influenced me to express myself in different ways. I think it has helped me learn how to express different emotions or feelings in the songs I write.

What song that you have recorded means the most to you and why? “Girl Most Likely,” my debut single. It means so much to me because it is my character-defining song. It embodies everything that I am and have gone through and who I am today. At the same time, this song empowers others to take the bad things that happened to them in the past and to use it as fuel to become successful and happy in the future.

How was it filming the video for it? Filming the music video for “Girl Most Likely” was an interesting day. My videographer and I went to the city to film in Arizona. It was 112 degrees out that day and I had to roller skate in that heat. On top of that I never roller-skated on four wheel skates, only inline skates, so I had to learn real quick how to skate on them. It was really fun aside from the heat!

Is there any news for the forthcoming album? I am hoping to release my EP in early 2021. It is completed, it’s just a matter of lining everything up now before the release.

At the end of the day, what do you hope is the message of your music? What do you hope people take away from your songs? The message of my music is to take the negatives and turn them into positives. To always keep going. To remember who you are and to be confident in who you are. I want to empower people to stay hopeful and always find positivity even in the worst situations. I hope what people take away is that even during bad times there is always something good around the corner and to remember they have the power to change bad things into good things.

What is your favorite wine? I like sweet white wine. Rieslings and Moscato. Especially white wine from Michigan, their apples are so sweet there.

Best food that comes in can? Spam. My uncle is Hawaiin and he fries up spam with eggs and cheese. It’s the best breakfast. I've never tasted something so good like fried spam.

What is your favorite childhood cereal? Peanut butter captain crunch, even though it destroys the top of your mouth. That stuff is addicting.

Where do you shop and name three items that are always in your grocery cart? Sprouts or Whole Foods because they have the freshest produce. I always buy Essentia water, fruit (usually cherries or pineapple), and cage-free eggs (they taste way better).

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why?Essentia, please sponsor me haha. I've only been drinking their water for the last two years of my life. I grew up drinking bottled water because Arizona tap water does not taste good. Essentia is so tasty and has electrolytes for hydration and alkalinity and is low on acidity. Acidic water makes you drink more water and dehydrates you.
