What is one Thanksgiving tradition you have? Just being with my family, everyone cooking a lot of yummy food and spending quality time together. The evening typically ends with everyone pulling out guitars and singing songs!
What is your favorite dish at the Thanksgiving table? Macaroni and cheese!
What is your favorite dish to cook? Honestly, I am not much of a cook! My parents love to cook and always take on the role as the Thanksgiving chefs! Maybe now that I am married though I will try and cook up something for this years Thanksgiving meal! Haha!
Are you a turkey or ham eater? Turkey all the way!
What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Sweet potato pie with some whipped cream on top! My dad makes several every year and it is so good and definitely a tradition!
Where will you spend your Thanksgiving? I typically spend part in Nashville and part in Rome, Georgia with my dad’s side of the family, but this year everyone is spending Thanksgiving together in Nashville! So, it will be so nice to have everyone in our home here for a change. Then the day after, I will be traveling to Mississippi with my husband to do Thanksgiving with his side of the family!
How soon is too soon to start decorating for Christmas? I think it is acceptable to start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving! Definitely no earlier than that though!!
Name three things you are thankful for this year. My husband, my family and my guitar!
The holiday season brings the best parties and time together with friends and family. What is your signature cocktail recipe that you will be drinking/serving? I know it isn’t necessarily very “fall” but our favorite drink is similar to a strawberry margarita! It is so tasty and so easy to make! It is just the Simply Lemonade with raspberries, Triple Sec and Tequila! I am all about any fruity drink!
ASHLYN GRAYCE'S SOUTHERN SWEET POTATO PIES Makes 2 Sweet Potato Pies Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees 2 frozen deep dish pie shells (follow instructions on package) 5 cups cooked/mashed sweet potatoes
2 cans Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
4 Whole Large Eggs
3 tsp cinnamon
3 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground ginger
3/4 stick melted butter
Whipped Cream
Cinnamon Sticks
Put all ingredients except butter into large mixing bowl and beat with mixer until well combined. Add butter last. Beat for about 2 minutes. Scrape down sides to incorporate everything. Divide mixture into 2 pie shells. If you have extra batter, just bake separately in small ramakin to snack on. Cook pies for 60 to 65 minutes on the bottom rack of oven. Let pies cool for at least 45 mins to an hour so they will set and cut easily. If your sweet potato pies are too hot, they will not cut well. Garnish with whipped cream, cinnamon sticks and nutmeg. ENJOY!
