BASE SPIRIT
The NoMad Cocktail Book, an illustrated collection of cocktail recipes by Make It Nice bar director Leo Robitschek, hits bookshelves this week. Initially published as a separate booklet inside The NoMad Cookbook (2015), Robitschek’s first standalone book features more than 100 brand-new recipes from the award-winning NoMad Bar for a total of nearly 300 recipes with 30 new full-color cocktail illustrations by Antoine Ricardou.
GET LEO’D
Robitschek is the bar director of Make It Nice, the restaurant group helmed by chef Daniel Humm, which includes The NoMad in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas; Eleven Madison Park; and several forthcoming restaurants, including Davies and Brook at Claridge’s. He and his team have been the recipients of numerous Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards and the James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program.
THE COCKTAIL ROUTE
Recipes are broken up into six sections and organized by type of beverage, from aperitifs and classics to light, dark, and soft cocktails, syrups and infusions. The comprehensive guide, meant to be used as a service manual, explains the art of drink-making, shares the secrets of Robitschek's acclaimed cocktail program and celebrates classically focused cocktails, while also delving into large-format drinks and reserve cocktails crafted with rare spirits. The NoMad Cocktail Book can be purchased at bookstores nationwide, online or at all NoMad locations.
