Happy Friday! Thank you so much for talking with us. What was the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given about pursuing a career in music? To discover who I am – what I want to say and how I want my music to say it – and then to stand firm in that when the industry, or competitors, or critics, try to change me. Being unique and using the voice that only I have is the only way to truly have joy and succeed, no matter on what level.
Where do you draw inspiration from when writing? Real life stories! More specifically, the situations I’m going through or the experiences of the people around me. Country music is three chords and the truth, after all – and both songwriters and music fans resonate with real stories more than anything.
What has changed in your life between recording your last EP and this one? So much! I graduated college and have been spending more time than ever diving into songwriting, working with lots of new people, and figuring out the next direction for my music in this new season.
Tell us about your new single, "Superhero." “Superhero” might be my favorite song I’ve released! I wrote it with my friend Brittany Ray, and for me, it’s a message of hope. I think that we’ve all been in a place of recognizing our own lack of perfection – but the story here is that in spite of that, or maybe because of it, we can still be the perfect person for someone we love.
What can we expect from your forthcoming EP? Every Minute Matters is somewhat of a love letter to my past, full of songs about love and nostalgia and the passing of time. It’s appreciating what has been and what brought me to where I am now as I look towards the future (and what songs will be inspired next)!
What is your favorite dish to cook? Chicken enchiladas! (yum)
How do you drink your coffee? Jet black!
Where is your favorite place to eat in your hometown? I grew up in a suburb full of chain restaurants, so in all honesty – my mom’s kitchen!
What's your favorite fast food chain? Chick-Fil-A, hands down.
If you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Goo Goo Clusters! I love sweets and I love Nashville!
