New in Miami: Life House opens first hotel in Little Havana

LIFE HOUSE LITTLE HAVANA

528 SW 9th Avenue

Miami, FL 33130

¡HOLA, MIAMI!

Life House -- the new collection of immersive and affordable hotels -- has opened its first property in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, the city’s vibrant Cuban heart. Located in a restored 1920s-era Mission Revival style building minutes from the neighborhood’s bustling main street, Calle Ocho, the hotel features 33 rooms, a living room-style lobby, library, courtyard garden, diverse dining options and a rooftop terrace + pool (coming soon). Co-founded by former Sydell and Starwood executive Rami Zeidan, Life House is the first Silicon Valley-backed hospitality group to vertically integrate design, development, and advanced digital technology into the hotel experience. Life House's mission is simple: to offer culturally enriching, immersive and inexpensive travel experiences by using tech to streamline the hotel booking process and allow guests more time spent exploring the surrounding community and with each other. By December 2019, Life House will have over 20 hotels under construction in the United States, with the next opening slated for Miami’s South Beach neighborhood this spring.

LITTLE HAVANA VIBES Each Life House hotel is designed to celebrate the spirit of its neighborhood, honoring its surroundings and history throughout the property. Life House Little Havana transports guests to 1950s Cuba with vintage furniture from Hans Wegner, Cassina and Jeanneret alongside Afro-Cuban ceramics, collected books and local plants. To bring the spirit and culture of Little Havana to life within the hotel, Life House has collaborated with local artists to create custom pieces including a three-story atrium portrait gallery and guest room photography by young Cuban artist Leandro Feal. Each room is outfitted with small comforts, including Le Labo bath products, scents by Dyptique, REVIVAL linens, Marshall speakers and more. Life House Little Havana offers rooms starting at $119, including queens, doubles, king suites and bunk bed rooms for group travelers.

DIG IN Together, Miami-based chef Leo Pablo (Stubborn Seed and Jean Georges alum) and Brian Griffiths (Broken Shaker) head up Life House Little Havana’s food and beverage program. Opening in the coming weeks, Parcela is a vegetable-forward cafe, offering dishes and drinks inspired by the urban agriculture movement of Havana, Cuba and Miami’s rich fabric of Latin cuisine. In spring 2019, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar opens with Latin-infused street foods and vibrant color palettes inspiring its menu and design. Life House Little Havana will also feature a rooftop food forest, from which ingredients will be sourced and used throughout the hotel’s menus. TECH-FORWARDThe Life House experience is powered by its own mobile app featuring a social network of travelers, allowing guests to connect with each other before check-in and during their stay should they desire. Guests who check-in using the app can do so automatically and bypass the lobby's check-in, accessing their rooms via mobile key. The app also allows guests of Life House to chat with staff, requesting everything from room service to late check-outs. Soon, guests will be able to connect with locals via the app too, exploring bespoke daily programming in and around the property, fully immersing visitors in the community and culture of each neighborhood.
