Kaitlyn Baker, the indie artist and songwriter who began winning regional talent contests when she was just seven years old, releases her brand new single “Blackbird” today! Download and stream the new song HERE.
Baker wrote the song as a tribute to a very close friend who was killed in an automobile accident by a drunk driver and it is now the first single from her forthcoming EP of the same title. Her self-penned songs mirror real life and this one is especially close to her heart.
Born and raised in the small town of Pound, VA, Baker rises from the depths of the coal mines where her family has worked for generations and where the coal dust covers more than just the birds in a veneer of black. Baker has always known that music would carry her far beyond the Appalachian peaks that she calls home. Referred to as a modern day “coal miner’s daughter,” her pure country voice rings true and her songwriting rivals Nashville’s finest. Baker’s voice soars on “Blackbird” and fans can look forward to new music with an EP which follows later this spring.
