NBC’s “The Voice” Winner Jake Hoot Talks Food Favorites and Experience on the Show

Thank you so much for chatting with us! What is your earliest musical memory? I can remember mom playing piano and singing with her when I was just a few years old. I also remember dad walking around the house making up funny lyrics to songs that we sang.

Who inspires you as a singer? My beautiful fiancée, Brittney and my daughter Macy.

You’ve already received some great praise about your forthcoming album from tons of music outlets. That must feel pretty special? It absolutely does! It's an indescribable feeling when you pour your heart into a project and people want to hear it. I'm very blessed!

What pushed you to try out for The Voice? I don't know. I was working at a great paying job at the time, making good money, but there was just something about it that drew me to it. Little did I know that it would take off like it did!

You had Kelly Clarkson turn around for you in your blind audition. Did you have an idea of who you wanted to go with prior to the performance? I did! I was originally hoping that Blake would turn, because I love his music, but I was just hoping that SOMEONE would.

Do you feel like, no matter what happens, The Voice has positively impacted your career? Of course. I have met so many incredible people, played so many amazing shows, and written with some incredible writers since the show.

Outside of music, what do you like to do to relax? Spend time with family. I also love traveling and playing video games.

Most memorable meal while touring. Where were you and what did it involve? Well, touring kind of stopped almost immediately after The Voice, but I did get to go to a Hard Rock Cafe Casino buffet, and it was UNREAL!

Where is your favorite place to eat in your hometown? Either Seven Senses (Cookeville) or The Goat(Mt Juliet).

As the 2nd of nine siblings and now with a daughter of your own, what are some of your favorite things to cook for others, say your signature recipe? I make a mean Chocolate Braid.

What can fans expect from you in 2021? A brand new EP on January 15th! Hopefully live shows will open again, and we can get back on the road! Regardless, expect a TON of new music!

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Drink (Luzianne Tea) and Food (M&M's)!
