EAST SIDE HANGS Lou's Bodega, a new East side destination in Austin, Texas, is now open, making it the second partnership between the city's powerhouses McGuire Moorman Hospitality and hotelier Liz Lambert's Bunkhouse Group. In true corner store fashion, Lou’s sells coffee, pastries and a stock of smokes, snacks, candy, newspapers and magazines, as well as a convivial all-day menu of comforting rotisserie fare to stay or go. ORDER UP Starting at 7am, early risers can enjoy Intelligentsia Coffee and pastries from Swedish Hill, a local bakery from McGuire Moorman Hospitality opening later this year. At 11am, in-house rotisserie is added to the all day offerings, including porchetta, beef, chicken, and cauliflower, served by the plate or family-style with homemade dipping sauces. Salads, sandwiches and sides round out the offerings, such as saffron Texmati rice, sticky Brussels sprouts and cole slaw, with frozen custard bedecked with salted caramel, sour cherries, pistachio brittle or warm chocolate mocha for dessert. BACKYARD HANG Outside, an expansive back patio encourages afternoons of ping pong and live music all while cooling off under the warm Texas sun with a crisp cocktail. A menu from beverage director Alex Holder includes bodega horchatas and agua fresca along with a selection of wine, beer and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks. Hours: Sun-Thurs: 7am-10pm Fri-Sat: 7am-11pm Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 3-6pm
