lou Nestled in a renovated white 1930s craftsman house in East Nashville, lou offers an intimate and ethereal dining experience to help the community celebrate and escape. Creating a playful juxtaposition between contemporary Californian fare and Old-World European style, lou’s vibrant and constantly rotating menu is a nod to the West Coast’s healthy-ish cuisine, emphasizing seasonality through bright, vegetable-forward dishes and a focused selection of proteins. Chef / owner, Mailea Weger; an alum of LA’s Gjusta & Gjelina and opening executive chef of acclaimed Echo Deli in Paris, serves share plates, weekend brunch and an all natural wine program, set in a cozy dining room and lush patio. Taking cue from her time in Paris, the vibe is designed to encourage guests to connect over long meals, learn about niche wine, and host an interactive dining experience. The restaurant is home to a team of talented leaders, including chef de cuisine, Mike Kida, who helms the kitchen; pastry chef, Sierra Cody, who creates beautiful whole cakes as well as pastries and desserts, and beverage & service manager, Campbell Moore, who leads the all-natural wine program. Passionate about caring for and being an ally to marginalized populations in her region, Weger regularly hosts community bake sales at lou benefiting organizations such as Thistle Farms, Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi, and the ACLU of Tennessee, featuring guest chefs and local business participants.
