Thank you so much for chatting with us out here at the Windy City Smokeout festival. You just celebrated 16 years since your first album, Like it Used to Be. What is something you would want to go back and tell yourself back then? What I would tell myself is to enjoy the moments and not worry so much. I am a big worrier and I think that any artist who tells you that they are not a worrier, is lying. You worry about making money, and making the next show happen, the opening slots, etc. So enjoy the moments.
We know you have three kids. How has it been through quartiene with them? One of my kids is with me on the bus now. We just went to the Hancock Tower and shopped at H & M. She pretty much grew up on the tour bus. She rides in the front with the bus driver a lot of the time. We did things when I was growing up in Texas, but I did not get to see the world. So she gets to benefit from my lifestyle in a sense. I love my job and going to these cities and I am able to show them the way, like hey check this out or this city's history. My four year old had a birthday and the time I got with her was crucial for our relationship. I didn’t get that time with the other girls, so now we are like real friends. She is my buddy. Quarantine at home was wonderful for our family.
What was your best quarteine Amazon delivery purchase? Watch bands for my Apple watch.
If you could be a guest on any cooking show what would it be? Rachel Ray. Randy Rogers and Rachel Ray go together and I kind of have a crush on her.
What should every Texas kitchen be stocked with? Chili
Where is your favorite place to eat in your hometown? Las Fontanas Mexican Kitchen.
Favorite food that is deep fried? Pickles
Best food that comes in a can? Beans
Who is your NBA finals pick? I have to root against Chris Paul. I hate the fact that I am rooting against the Suns. I am a Suns fan, but I am not a Chris Paul fan. So go Bucks.
What is coming up for Randy Rogers Band? We just recorded a new EP with Radney Foster who produced our first four albums and we are really excited about it. I wrote a lot of songs. We recorded it at Dockside Studio in Maurice, Louisiana. We have a lot of history there.
If you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand, who would it be and why? Shiner Bock. They are the best sponsor in the world.
