From Actor to Musician, Jet Jurgensmeyer, Shares his "Real World"

Good Afternoon Jet! Thank you so much for talking with us! What was it like for you growing up around artists at the Nashville Palace?

It was always pretty normal. My parents made sure that the artists I was around were just regular people and treated me just like any other person. It did make me love performing and made me comfortable in front of people.

Did you come from an acting or musical family? What is it that first drew you to music?

My Mom is a musician and songwriter. She did some acting. She and my Dad have been in the business for a long time, they also produce some films. She and my Dad always seem to play a small part in movies they produce. I have just been around the entertainment business my whole life and it has always been very natural to me. I also like that I get to be with my family. We work on projects together and I think that is pretty cool. I can’t remember a time in my life that I wasn’t around music. It has always been a big part of our lives.

Tell us about your newest single, “Real World,” that's currently out. What inspired you most for this song?

My friend Sabrina Carpenter is one of the writers on the song. The first time I head the song I loved it. It has a great fun message. I think that people get so caught in life sometimes, that we forget to still have dreams and try to go for those dreams.

How was it working and writing with Sabrina Carpenter?

I worked with Sabrina on “Adventures In Babysitting” for Disney. We haven’t written together yet. She is like a big sister to me. Our families are very close and it really means a lot to me to have her there to give me advice and encouragement. She is such a good person and artist. It is great to have someone like her to look up to.

You stay so busy with your acting and music career, how do you manage it all at such a young age?

Well my parents are the ones who really keep the schedules and things organized. It rarely gets that crazy. For example, when we are filming “Last Man Standing”, we pretty much know what our schedule is going to be ahead of time, so we can plan other things around that. Again, my parents work hard at making things very normal for me.

Can you talk a little about your support of The Ryan Seacrest Foundation?

A few years ago, I went to visit a Seacrest Studio for the first time and I fell in love with it. Seeing what they do there is amazing. They are so positive with all of the kids. When these kids come through the doors of the studio or turn on the channel in their rooms, it helps them try to forget what they are going through at the hospital. They can just be regular kids. I can’t explain to you how good that makes me feel to be part of it when I am there.

Now for the food! Do you prefer to eat at home and have a favorite recipe or just go out to eat?

I love being at home on a weekend and having breakfast. My favorite are bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. Can you tell I’m from the south? LOL!

Favorite junk food? Popcorn

Any food you just won’t touch? Not really...I am one of those kids that eats pretty much anything. I guess I am not the biggest fan of asparagus. I could take it or leave it.

Aside from your passion for acting and music, what's the one thing that really keeps you ticking?

My friends and family. I love getting hang out with them play some sports, watch sports, play a little video games, ride 4-wheelers.

What else can fans look forward to from you in 2019?

We are hoping that "Last Man Standing" on Fox will be back for another season in the fall. I have a movie coming out on INSP later this year called “The Legend of 5 Mile Cave”. I have an animated series coming out on Disney Jr. and I have my album that will be out in late spring. I am really excited about that. I wrote one of the songs on it with my good friend and Nashville native Alivia McKenna. I will also be playing a several shows around Nashville and the country. I’m pretty excited.
