Frist Art Museum Accepting Digital Photo Submissions Until Sept. 30 for Upcoming Community Exhibit

The Frist Art Museum will continue accepting digital photography submissions until September 30 for the upcoming community exhibition Connect/Disconnect: Growth in the “It” City. The juried show will feature photographs by Davidson County residents of diverse ages and backgrounds, capturing how the area’s population boom has affected them and the lives of the people around them.

About the exhibition Connect/Disconnect: Growth in the “It” City is a community exhibition inspired by a 2017 Tennessean article about how Nashville has been growing at a rate of one hundred people per day. The exhibition hopes to explore the rising connectivity between neighborhoods and communities, and the potential for disconnection between people and socioeconomic classes as the city strives to adapt to record growth. Its themes may include the new atmosphere of entrepreneurship and creativity, the impact of transit and housing on current and new residents, and the ongoing effects of recent and historical events.

Eligibility Davidson County residents of any age are encouraged to enter their work.

Submission process All entries must be submitted to ARTcall.org by September 30, 2018 (the system will close at 11:59 p.m. CDT). You may submit up to two photographs for consideration. Images must be digital photographs that are at least 3 MB in size, with maximum dimensions of 8 x 10 inches. No videos, please.

Selection, installation, and celebration Submissions may be displayed in an online gallery at FristArtMuseum.org. Images remain the property of their creators. A jury will choose 50 works to be printed and framed by the Frist Art Museum for the Conte Community Arts Gallery. On March 22, the opening day of the exhibition, the museum will host a reception for the featured photographers and their guests.
