FAT BOTTOM BREWING EXPANDS PORTFOLIO AND PRODUCTION, ACQUIRES MUSIC CITY LIGHT

The beer brand starts new decade in growth mode, announces addition of Music City Beer

Company and Nashville SC official craft beer partnership

Nashville’s Fat Bottom Brewing Co. is beginning the new year off with a bang by announcing their acquisition of Music City Beer Company and their new role as Nashville Soccer Club’s official craft beer partner.

The union of the two local beer brands started with a productive contract brewing relationship in late 2018. “Music City has been produced by several different breweries over the years and we always struggled with inconsistent product and quality,” says Music City founder Quinn O’Sullivan. “ When we brought the project to Fat Bottom, their brewmaster was able to reformulate the recipe to improve the product and make each batch taste exactly the same. We immediately saw our sales increase, as consumers came back and re-bought a product that they actually enjoyed.”

Fat Bottom is also more than doubling capacity at their production brewery in the Nations neighborhood. “We ordered a bunch of new 60-barrel tanks in December,” says Ben Bredesen, owner and founder of Fat Bottom Brewing Co. “We were running at absolute maximum capacity last summer, and we knew that we would be growing existing Fat Bottom brands, expanding Music City, and launching several new projects in 2020.”

The most notable of the new projects is Fat Bottom’s collaboration with Nashville’s new Major League Soccer franchise, Nashville Soccer Club. The beer company is the team’s official craft brewing partner, sparking the launch of two new beers with the Nashville SC brand- Pitch Invasion and Breakaway. Pitch Invasion is a light, crisp American lager, while Breakaway will be a session IPA. Both products come in at 4.5% ABV, and will be available in draft and 16 oz cans when the team opens their season on February 29 at Nissan Stadium.

Upon announcing the partnership, Nashville SC CEO Ian Ayre stated, “We are very excited to be partnering with Fat Bottom Brewing Co., a company founded with three of our core values in mind: community, ambition and creativity. As we build out our team, our club and our partnerships, aligning with organizations that fit so closely to who we want to be and how we want to be perceived is hugely important, and Fat Bottom Brewing Co. ticks all the boxes in that regard.”
