Casual Italian Tapas-Style Trattoria, Pelato, Now Open in Nashville

Renowned chef and restauranteur Anthony Scotto opens second Music City concept in beloved Germantown neighborhood

Following the successful opening of upscale Italian restaurant Luogo last year, Executive Chef and nationally acclaimed restaurateur Anthony Scotto and his wife and co-owner Theresa Scotto are thrilled to announce the opening of their second and most nostalgic restaurant to date, Pelato, located in the heart of Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood. An old-school trattoria featuring Italian-style tapas, the laid-back restaurant located at 1300 3rd Ave, North will pay homage to Scotto’s favorite childhood recipes from Brooklyn, New York, and introduce casual Italian comfort food to the South.

Pelato’s namesake (which means “peeled tomato”) is a cheeky nod to Scotto’s bald head and representative of the foundation of most of the menu, which includes traditional pasta and meat dishes, as well as elevated street food, focacceria favorites, and “piccolo piatto,” an array of shareable-style small plates (full dinner menu here).

We couldn’t think of a better community than Germantown to open our next restaurant, as it’s one of Nashville’s most historic and fastest-growing neighborhoods.”

The Menu

With familiarity and nostalgia woven into every element of the menu, Pelato’s culinary program is led by chefs and entrepreneurs from some of the most notable Italian restaurants in the U.S., including Luogo Restaurant, Fresco by Scotto & Carbone. Standout dinner menu items include Chicken Parmigiana, Radiatore alla Vodka, and Panelle. For brunch, launching at a later date, guests can enjoy the entire dinner menu with the addition of a rotating selection of Italian Brunch classics. The beverage menu highlights frozen libations and classic aperitif-style cocktails such as Pelato Palmer, Pinot Freezio, Brooklyn Root Beer, and Yankee Soda alongside a thoughtful selection of Italian wines and local beers.

Starting shortly after opening, every Sunday will be reminiscent of Sundays at the Scottos’, where guests can enjoy an exclusive Sunday Supper (in addition to Pelato’s regular menu) featuring family-style pasta with “Sunday Sauce” (an assortment of meats stewed all morning in tomato sauce) and other Italian American staples.

The Space

Located in the heart of the rapidly growing neighborhood of Germantown, Pelato is designed to be a casual gathering place for the community to come together and enjoy hearty Brooklyn Italian dishes. While dining, guests get a look into the warehouse-turned-chic space which blends Italian flair from Brooklyn with Nashville’s historic roots, as vintage photographs line the walls, many of which are Scotto’s own family portraits.

The intimate dining room and inside bar can seat up to 200 guests, and the outdoor patio, featuring an Italian-style outdoor bar window, can seat 40 guests. Aiming to be a destination for all occasions, Pelato also offers 6,200 square feet of private dining space.

Hours of Operation

Pelato is open for dinner Tuesday-Thursday from 5-9pm, Friday-Saturday from 5pm-10pm, and Sundays from 5pm-8pm, and closed on Mondays. Brunch will launch at a later date. Reservations can be made via Resy here and bar seating is first come, first serve.
